History of 1st Battalion Wiltshire Rifles  

In August 1914 the battalion was at Tidworth as part of the 7th Brigade, 3rd Division.  This Division was one of the first to deploy in France in 1914, and remained on the Western front for the duration of the War, being involved in nearly all the major battles.
